Celebrating 5 Years of Sobriety From Sugar Addiction, Codependency & Emotional Binge Eating Disorder

Updated: Dec 20, 2022

It's that time of year again. Each Fall I'm proud to shine a light on my shame story and the fact that I am putting in the work to heal and recover. It's going on year five of being in full remission in my binge eating disorder. I'm so proud. It's been hard for everyone this not just folks in recovery due to Covid-19. I'm not going to hold you guys long. Just want to encourage someone reading this to begin their journey. It is worth the effort. Because today I can say I am a Master.

I teach my clients about the four level of healings. It's a framework I created to help heal and recover from abandonment and childhood emotional neglect trauma that cause impostor syndrome as it relates to a (fear of success and begin abandon), codependency (people pleasing), emotional eating (sugar addiction), and financial stress (taken on other debt due to recusing others while neglect your own life wellness, and business goals). The Soul Connection 80/20 Life Detox Cleanse Growth Scale™ is a tool that helps women who struggle with financial stress/money blocks, imposter syndrome, codependency/people pleasing, and emotional eating cause by abandonment and childhood emotional neglect trauma heal and recover. The growth scale offer clarity to each level of recovery and encourage the self healer to ponder triggers, thoughts, and behaviors that may need attention. When this awareness is clear they can make the right decision at the right time, so they can efficiently and effectively do the necessary work to heal and recover from trauma and addiction.

What’s really unique about The Growth Scale Emotional Healing Framework is that it is not a one-sized fits all wellness plan. There are three phases in our program, but there are four levels on the growth scale. Each one corresponds to a different level of healing and recovery, from student to master.

The action steps that we recommend for growth vary from level to level. The reason for this is because if you’re just starting out on your emotional healing journey, what you should focus on right now is very different from what you should focus on when you’ve eventually overcome a specific trigger or pain point and working on how to overcome common issues in both codependency people pleasing that cause you to escape with food.

This is why the growth scale is so powerful it helps you focus on the inner work that you need to be doing right now, so you can move forward in your healing journey and reach the next level to becoming a recovered codependent in full remission of emotional eating and your desire to please.

The Growth Scale Emotional Healing Framework® consist of four levels.

Student: Lack Clarity

You’re awaken to the reality that you are in a state of emotional neediness and control. You are aware that something is unbalanced and missing within your life and you are now ready to accept and explore the emptiness you feel. You know something needs to change you are experiencing conscious awareness.

Apprentice: Address Guilt. Resistance. & Fear

You’re awaken to the reality that in order to change you must face your shadow traits. You understand that this means doing something you never done before and perhaps feeling and revisiting painful memories and emotions that you may have suppressed due to painful events in your life that you were not ready to address. As a student you choose to accept the emotions and learn more about the trauma you have experience. As an apprentice you must take 100 % full responsibility and stop blaming others for your pain and how you feel. Now it’s time to take action and process how you feel about what you have learned.

Journeyman: Vulnerability. Authenticity. & Gaining Confidence

You’re awaken to the reality that the only way to have peace and live your on life on your own terms means you have to put an end to blame and conflict. You no longer avoid conflict, confrontation, or strong emotions of anger during the last level you learned how to process those difficult emotions. You also choose to forgive yourself and others. Now it’s time to learn the skills needed and apply them to your daily life. You have accepted the pain, you face those difficult emotion and now it’s time to learn the skills needed to cope in the real world when dealing with difficult people. This means taking 100% responsibility for your life choices and holding others accountable for their actions and behaviors by setting and enforcing boundaries while practicing your self care rituals and wellness plan.

Master: Turn Your Pain and Fear Into Purpose That Uplift and Inspire

You are no longer in a state of emotional neediness or control you have learned how to fill yourself up with love, joyful and pleasurable activities and have created your own sense of worth and maintaining a stronger sense of self that inspires others to begin their own healing and recovery. Your Aura says, “I am ready to shine my light into the world.”

Today officially marks the day of me being a Master. I couldn't be more proud of myself. Every day, you get to make a choice. It’s up to you to choose recovery. Eating disorder recovery does not happen in a straight line. There will be ups and downs. On the good days and on the bad days, you are still making progress — as long as you continue to choose recovery. If you talk to others in eating disorder recovery, the vast majority will tell you how hard recovery is. They will also tell you that you can do this. We believe in you and are here for you every step of the way. If you feel like you’re failing at recovery, please know that you are absolutely not failing. Life in recovery is hard! When you struggle, turn each situation around and ask yourself, “What do I need right now?” Give yourself a big dose of self-compassion and self-love and remind yourself that you can do this. Remind yourself why you choose recovery. What led you to treatment in the first place? Let that inspire you to keep going. It's all about the habits and rituals. If this is a goal you are trying to achieve let my story inspire you to begin your journey. You can heal. If I can do it, so can you. It's just takes a bit of work and consistency.
